Running against the current is in the DNA of Microfinance (MF): while commercial banks have fancy buildings, we only have a laptop and point-of-sale printer; in the finance industry, customers go to the Banks, at MF we go to our associate’s rural communities; commercial banks typically loan to men, while in MF 98% of our associates are women; commercial banks only loan to solvent people that can offer a guarantee, while at MF we loan to low-income individuals that typically don’t have any collateral to offer.
At MF we are different not only in the way we approach the problem of accessing financial resources; we are also different in the way approach ministry. We are honest and deeply interested in the holistic development of the people we serve, ie from a financial, physical and spiritual perspective.
In Romans 12:2, the Apostol Paul invites us to not “conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind”.
